We were doing the tourist rounds of the Palatine hill when I noticed this guy in the classic pose of peaceful thought and concentration. I thought it balanced well with rock and wall and left me wondering if 2000 years ago some Roman senator may have sat in a similar spot to read. This image is also a good example of how the mind only wants to see what it likes. When I reviewed the set of pictures I found his partner just off to the left gesticulating vehemently. My guess that far from sitting in peaceful concentration he had actually gotten them lost and was trying to nut it out with the insistent help of his loving partner.
